Over the past year, we have worked with some other photographers who were looking to get more into the wedding photography field. Jerry and I both knew that Mandy Leonards Photography was growing and expanding, and our need for additional photographers who we can trust and train ourselves was something we started exploring. I first met Trish when I photographed her son for his newborn photos. At that photo session, she told me that she had been an photography hobbyist for many years and did shoots for friends, and offered a helping hand if I ever needed one. We chatted a lot at her session and got along well. She signed up for my baby plan package and so I saw her every few months to capture a milestone of her son. As the months went on, I kept talking more and more with Trish, and she kept telling me of the new gear she had purchased. We use the same camera, so we would talk gear often . As I found her on facebook, I saw her own photos and realized there was a great deal of potential and talent there. So Jerry and I talked with her and decided to have her start coming along to weddings and sessions with us. She caught on extremely fast and has become an essential part of our team. Her creativity and passion for photography is a welcomed addition and we are very excited that she has joined us. We wanted to formally introduce her to you so you won’t be surprised when you hear her name or see her face with us Welcome to Mandy Leonards Photography, Trish! We are lucky to have you to work with. We asked her some questions recently… enjoy getting to know Patricia Forman!

What do you shoot with?

The Camera body I shoot with is a Canon 5D Mark II. The lenses in my bag right now are a Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L, a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II, and a Canon 50mm f/1.4. I just ordered the Canon 85mm f/1.2L II and can’t wait to try it out!

Favorite lens?

This is a tough one. I prefer the image quality I get from my L glass, but really like the ability to open up with my 50mm 1.4. With that being said, I’m sure that the 85mm 1.2 is going to be my favorite☺

How did you get started in photography?

My father’s love of photography was my introduction. I grew up with a camera in my face and have many fond memories of time spent developing photos in our basement darkroom. I later took a few classes in college, and finally jumped headfirst into it after my son was born.

What other hobbies do you have?
I enjoy anything that puts me in nature. Top on that list would be caving.

What is your favorite thing about photography?

I love capturing the fleeting moments in life and the emotions that photographic images evoke in people.

What do you like most about wedding photography?

I enjoy the growth as a photographer that I experience from each wedding I shoot. Weddings give me the chance to use all of my gear and shoot in many different situations. It is also nice to capture such strong emotion and be surrounded by love for the day☺

What inspires you most?

My number one inspiration is my twenty-two month old son Forest. I have learned so much about photography since he has entered this world. Capturing his every moment quickly turned into an obsession of attempting to perfect the images I shoot.

Favorite photographers?

A few of my favorite photographers are Stephen Alvarez, Bobbi+Mike, Laura Brett, and of course, Mandy Leonards
